CATALINAS PROJECT
Playful films inspired by Catalina/Antonio de Erauso, exploding gender and beyond.
Catalina meets the pope (2022, 18’ )
Each film a different world - each focuses on one time and theme from Catalina’s life:
the perversion of binary gender, the brutality of colonialism, the cruelty of captivity for life.
The conclusion of the project will see them re-cut and integrated in a feature.
She who lives by the sword (2024, 13’)
If these walls could talk (2025, 13’)
Catalina de Erauso (1585-1650)
changed gender multiple times.
They were a nun, a coloniser, a soldier,
a voyager, a cheat, a killer, a thief,
a celebrity...
CATALINAS IN ME
These portraits form part of the ongoing research of embodied Catalinas. It is unclear if they temporarily inhabit my body or if I occasionally operate an unsubtle transformation.

PLAY INSTALLATIONS
The Catalinas Project is also non-competitive Treasure Hunts. Groups of participants are given clues related to the films, while characters in flesh and blood present them with riddles and tasks. All participants are rewarded with the viewing of the film they just played with.
